Weekend Workshops

New England Innovation Academy
Fall 2024 / Spring 2025

In Partnership with NEIA, Futures Forge leads workshops to help students develop performance skills

In just one day at New England Innovation Academy, students begin a journey to develop one of the key skills of global top performers. Weekend workshops introduce students to improving their problem-solving, critical thinking, grit, motivation, growth mindset, and more. Students leave the workshops motivated and armed to continue learning and growing in areas critical for their success, but not served in the conventional classroom.

Curriculum

Self-Discovery & Motivation Workshop

November 2024, NEIA

In this workshop, 25 students worked with Futures Forge coaches to make major breakthroughs in learning about themselves. We helped them learn about key concepts, and also apply them immediately to their own growth, including:

  • How do my innate motivators subconsciously influence my behavior? In what ways are those influences helpful or harmful?

  1. How does my personality change how I interact with the world and with other people? How can I turn that into a strength?

  2. How can I quickly and continuously learn how well I'm performing as a teammate, presenter, and operator?

  3. How can I create a culture of feedback with trusted friends to maximize my rate of growth?

These questions are those which high-performers in their careers begin to ask as their growth stalls. Asking these questions with courage and vigor gives these students a massive advantage in their growth through high school, college, and adult life.

Complex Problem Solving Workshop

Spring 2025, NEIA

Sign up with the Head of Strategic Partnerships

The people who ultimately make the great differences in the world are those who can solve the hardest problems. Hard problems are ambiguous, complex, and are resistant to the normal approach that we most often use to solve easier problems: guessing. Great problem-solvers practice vigorously, and in this workshop, you can practice using the same methods and coaches that elite management consultants use to become stellar problem-solvers.

In this half-day workshop led by Futures Forge founder Erik Fogg, you'll work with a team in a fully-facilitated simulation to help a struggling VC-backed software company solve its employee retention problems. You'll receive prep work in the lead-up to the workshop to improve your problem solving skills, and then you and your team will receive thorough feedback and coaching from Futures Forge facilitators that will help you hone your skills as a problem-solver and as a teammate.

About Futures Forge

We launched Futures Forge to address the clear weaknesses in grads emerging from top universities into the workplace. Academic research and industry surveys both show that cognitive and psychological skills such as resilience and adaptability, emotional intelligence, problem-solving and critical thinking drive success in work and life. These are not developed in high school or college.

Futures Forge is founded and led by Nat Greene and Erik Fogg. We are Oxford and MIT undergraduates who have both launched and run companies which grew to over 60 people, and have each raised tens of millions in investor capital.

We are using our own experience leading management consulting firms and venture-backed startups, along with the state of the art in pedagogical science (e.g., Grasp) to catalyze rapid cognitive and psychological growth in our students. Our method combines difficult, high-responsibility, real-world project challenges with intense feedback and coaching.
